Integrated Logistics

Essential Logistics Flow Mapping

The Ask

Metis Europe were tasked with generating the documentation needed to comply with Dutch Government policy. The product was being introduced into the supply chain and we were asked by the manufacturer to map out the logistic process from final assembly to in use by their customer.

The Challenge

As the product was manufactured in the United States and being shipped to the customer in Holland this task contained a complex set of challenges. Standards compliance required a mapping process from the type of packaging being used to the commissioning of storage facilities.

Our work

By using an integrated logistics approach Metis Europe were able to assess the full set of requirements through the process. Our work not only produced the full logistic compliance report, but also assisted in the identification key failings that the manufacturer was not aware of in their process.

One such finding was that their warehouse did not know that their packaging was actually too big to fit into the customers system. A fault that, if discovered on delivery, would have resulted in a redesign, the need to ship replacements plus repackaging of the product at the customer’s facility. We ensured that our client avoided the large remediation costs and resulting reputational impact.
